About this Blog

Hello and welcome to Traumatic Exit, a blog for the traumatized by a traumatized.

I am starting this blog as a place where I can post about my discoveries, knowledge and experiences as I delve in to the very personal and very deep topic of complex trauma, also known as Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or CPTSD (really it ought to be be called childhood PTSD for what it is and where it comes from). I think that the topic of CPTSD is gaining some attention in the wake of COVID but that it is still a largely unknown topic. Bessel Van Der Kolk said that if CPTSD were to be admitted into the DSM then half of the diagnoses the book prescribes would be eliminated and I too share that belief.

There are just so many things that trauma does to you, it’s nearly impossible to detangle and truly separate one from the other. As with the human mind, it’s all connected in one giant web of consciousness that is you.

And so put simply, this blog is a place for which I am cataloguing all the knowledge and personal experiences I have accumulated on the subject of CPTSD, a subject which I believe is the root cause of many of the personality and psychological disorders present in the world today. The Cluster-B’s in particular (Borderlines, Narcissists, Avoidants, Histrionics), of which I consider myself to be a part of, all have traits and symptoms that result from the kind of childhood trauma experienced by CPTSD individuals.

There really is so much to this subject that I cannot possibly hope to cover it all in a single about page or blog post. And so my goal with this blog is to simply make a single post for every symptom or subject I deem relevant to the topic (hypervigilance, attachment, neurodivergence, etc.) along with my personal experiences of actually living through and attempting to deal with the issue so that someone who reads the post will be able to identify that symptom within themselves more easily. Many of these symptoms have been documented online, but there are a few that I think we traumatized share in common with each other that haven’t been identified, symptoms I intend to present my thoughts on as well. Lastly, there are some conclusions and theories on the subject which are entirely my own but which aren’t necessarily substantiated by the modern literature which I intend to present as well; which I will flag it as my own thoughts on the matter separate from well established information.

Lastly, I am not a trained therapist or psychologist, this blog is not meant to be a substitute for therapy. I am merely a person who has been very motivated to look deeply into this subject and I wish to share my findings with anyone who is also interested in embarking on a healing journey as well.

With all that said, welcome to the blog … it’s going to be a dark and stormy night.
